Back to School with Babbie

Our office has had a great time visiting our local schools with classes back in session!

Thank you to Woodland Country Day School, Millville Child Family Center, and Upper Deerfield Preschool for hosting us as reviewed the basics of brushing with their students. Our dental wellness session was filled with fun and educational activities aimed at keeping all of our students’ smiles bright and healthy!

Our sessions covered:

1. Toothbrushing Techniques:

We demonstrated the proper way to brush teeth—using a pea-sized amount of fluoride toothpaste, brushing in small circles, and making sure to reach all areas of the mouth.

2. Flossing Fundamentals:

The children learned the importance of flossing daily to remove food particles and plaque between teeth. We showed them how to use floss correctly and emphasized that it’s an essential part of maintaining oral health.

3. Healthy Snack Choices:

We discussed the impact of different snacks on dental health and encouraged students to choose teeth-friendly options like fruits and vegetables. We also highlighted how sugary snacks can contribute to tooth decay.

4. Fun Facts and Activities:

To make learning about dental health enjoyable, we engaged the kids with interactive videos, games, and fun facts to learn more about taking care of their smiles.

5. Take-Home Kits:

Each child received a dental health kit, including a toothbrush, toothpaste, and floss, to help them practice the skills they learned at school.

Taking these lessons home:

• Encourage Brushing and Flossing: Make sure your child brushes twice a day and flosses daily. Set a good example by practicing these habits yourself.
• Promote Healthy Eating: Offer a variety of nutritious snacks and limit sugary treats. Good dietary habits are key to maintaining strong, healthy teeth.
• Regular Dental Visits: Schedule regular check-ups with your family dentist to keep your child’s teeth and gums in top shape.
