In honor of Dental Hygienist week, we are highlighting our office’s dynamic duo of dental hygienists – Lily Hogan and Dana Schwegel!
Our dental hygienists do so much more than just cleaning teeth. They are key partners in preventing cavities, teaching patients how to care for their smiles, and ensuring that our families develop healthy dental habits that last a lifetime. They ensure that each child’s visit is both educational and enjoyable. From answering questions to providing personalized advice on brushing and flossing, they truly go above and beyond to make every smile a healthy one.
Read below to learn more about Lily and Dana:
- Why did you become a dental hygienist?
- Lily: I grew up around dentistry because my Mom was a dental assistant. I always knew I wanted to go into medicine and realized that I had a passion for dental health… what better way to promote it than spending all day talking about it?!
- Dana: One of my Mom’s best friends was a dental assistant and she put the idea of going into dental hygiene in my head. She was with Dr. Stern at the time and just really encouraged me to go into dentistry.
- What has been one of your favorite dental experiences?
- Lily: I love the first patient visits! I also have really been enjoying the school events and community health engagement we have been doing as an office like with Give Kids a Smile. These have been really rewarding experiences to be a part of.
- Dana: I love the kids! I did 30 years of general dentistry and have loved being with children now. It has truly felt re-energizing being with kids everyday.
- If you could be any Disney character, who would you be and why?
- Lily: Belle has always inspired me with her independence and is probably my favorite Disney princess!
- Dana: Tinkerbell because I would love to fly. How amazing would it be to fly with the fireworks at Disney World?!
